It seems no coincidence to me that after he started attacking the trans community, he invited Musk on stage and tried to defend him from the booing crowd.
I’m not sure the time line supports that. Dave was making tasteless and bigoted jokes about trans folk well before Elon/Netflix special. Who knows, maybe money was secretly changing hands. But even if so, Dave was the one to sell himself out. All the blame still falls directly to him.
He got too rich, had a crisis of conscience, then took some time in Africa to end up deciding that money > conscience.
In short, no one’s “paying him” to be a bigot, he’s just the typical rich piece of shit. He defends other rich pieces of shit because that’s what rich pieces of shit do.
