I know trying to convince commie is pointless as they are in every vegan aligned thread arguing indefinitely so this is for the reader.
Sentient animals can have good and bad experiences. In some cases they are simple physical enjoyments, while in other cases they have to do with emotions and pleasant thoughts, which many nonhuman animals are capable of having. Animals who play and social animals who enjoy relating to each other have such experiences.
However, when nonhuman animals die, they can no longer have any positive experiences. When someone dies, they can no longer enjoy all the good things that they could experience if they were to remain alive. Thus all sentient animals can be harmed by death, and actually are so harmed when they die. So sentient animals not only have an interest in not suffering, but also have an interest in remaining alive.
Hahaha, what total nonsense.
what’s nonsense is making unproven claims, and premising a broader argument on those.
I’m not even making any claims that are not truisms. Just common knowledge obtained by everyone that has ever had any contact with any animal.
But you do you. I don’t want to continue with this. Be well, happy holidays.
“common knowledge”, “truisms”
just present some evidence

(Loosely quoted from https://www.animal-ethics.org/interest-in-living)
TLDR; Unless you believe that animals can not have positive experiences it is logically derived that they have interest in living.
this is poisoning the well.
this is dissembling. continuing to live can broadly be said to be in every living things interest. that’s not what the discussion is about though.
there is no proof nonhuman animals understand that they might die. we cannot, therefore, conclude whether that’s something they want or don’t want.
