I hung the furring strips on the wall for my new pegboard while my 5yo helped by painting part of the workbench frame.
Edit: The current order is that I need to hang the board and finish the workbench. Then I can put away all my tools, and empty part of the storage unit. After that I’m going to build a massive bookcase with sliding ladder and then we can completely empty the storage unit.
And then there is the window bench/bookshelf for the 5yo, built in desk for the tween, building my closet and finishing the trim for the so’s, building a Murphy desk for the guest room, adding a sink to the laundry room, and finishing out the closet under the stairs.
Pegboard and a workbench was the first thing I built when we bought this place. I did quite a few remodeling jobs and no way in hell was I doing it with my tools scattered all over the place.
Exactly, I’ve been using a small table as a dumping ground for everything but it’s become a real problem. And the kids need it back as their Lego space anyway.
I used to have a nice pegboard.
I stained the boards coffee colored and built a little standalone.
It is so much fun to do stuff like this with your kids. Yesterday I let my 6 year old decorate the christmas tree. Usually I hate doing that, but this time I was enjoying it.
Oh yeah, anything we can do that keeps the kids engaged while we do something together is an absolute win.
You let your 5 year old paint something real? I admire your bravery.
Eh, it’s a workbench in a garage. It neither needs to be painted nor does it matter what it looks like. I think it’s more important that we get to spend some time together doing something fun and out of SO’s hair.
This guy husbands/fathers!
