      Noncin’ around the Christmas tree

      At the Epstein party hop

      Censored everywhere you can see

      Every pedo just can’t stop.

You will get a sentimental feeling

      When you hear

      Pedos singing "Don’t be silly,

Deck the halls with boughs of holly!"

      Noncin’ around the Christmas tree

      Have a creepy holiday

      Pedos dancing creepily

      In the new old-fashioned way

Doesn’t matter if they showed explicit images of Trump penetrating children. No legal consequences would be done to him anyway. Anyone with the power to resist this administration has already had all the pretext they need to do so and they have not. So either no one has that power, or they’re too gutless to use it. We are fucked.

When the law fails… what is left?

      Cowards?

      Or those with convinction?

… Have we all forgotten how this country was founded?

So what are you gonna do about it?

You. Not by begging some distant daddy. You.

With your words with your hands with your friends with whatever tools you know how to use?

What are you going to do?

I guess I’ll keep shit talking on the internet. I’m just one dude and not going to achieve anything by myself. I don’t have any tools that would solve this issue.

Okay. So how do you not be by yourself?

How do you learn more tools?

How do you be more than just one dude (cutting yourself in half doesn’t work, idk where to get all alien virus)?

It sounds like you have ideas. It would be way more productive for you to just share them outright, rather than this weird browbeating you’re doing.

Bunch of em! But I don’t know you. I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what would appeal to you. I don’t know what you’re capable of.

And I’m not going to dictate specific policy to you, because I would rather mismatch a little than have minions with no diversity of thought or pissy shitlibs arguing with me over minutae.

Sounds like a great opportunity to make a post in one of the many political communities on Lemmy then, to create some real discussion. Rather than stringing us along in the comment section here.

Yes, there wasn’t going to be a legal consequence for him, but he’s really old and he’ll probably die soon anyway. But that doesn’t mean that we’re all fucked, because the Epstein files destroyed MAGA. At the beginning of this year it felt like everything was going to be horrible and many things that are bad have continued to happen. But quite obviously, MAGA has lost almost all of their power. Why? Because of this. Because even MAGA supporters can recognize that it’s not okay to be giant pedophiles. Trump turned into a lame duck president after six months. And that’s amazing.

Of course, who knows what the future will bring because of the Supreme Court and politics is unpredictable. But at least right now, there are some positive signs.

That’s a wild statement to make. Everything they set in motion is still going strong. Nothing has gotten better. People are still being abducted off the streets, women are still being persecuted for exercising their reproductive rights, prices are still skyrocketing, all of our allies and trade partners are still cutting us out. A bunch of his shortsighted dumbfuck supporters might be temporarily pissed off but by the time the next election rolls around they’ll fall back in line. They’re not going to stop hating immigrants, women, and trans people just because more evidence that their dickhead leader was a pedophile came out. We already knew that anyway.

There’s the real possibility of fracturing once Trump either dies or somehow actually sees social consequences from his years of child sex trafficking. I’d say the death is more likely, and maybe it won’t be far off.

The two main factions of MAGA as I see it are the MTG types that are rabid fascist bigots opposed to pedophilia, and the institutional types that are rabid fascist bigoted pedophiles and pedophile supporters. It would be fun to see them destroy each other, sooner rather than later.

Ah. I defaulted to ascii blocks, which usually are black… well, at least they were, before the internet discovered the concept of dark mode.

The fun part is that ⬛ is still lighter than the background (which is #000) for me.

before the internet discovered the concept of dark mode

“usually”, because they would also be green, red, orange, purple, pink and a whole lot of other colours, before the web became all classy.

Except that I kinda prefer a simpler website than the multicolour messes that I see from those times.
I am guessing it would have started with people using it normally in a few areas, for emphasis and then ballooned up to the kind of mess similar to the kind of syntax highlighting this article was talking about.

There are ways to use subtle and subdued color palettes that are more interesting visually than typical modern style guides, don’t break built in hyperlink color defaults, while also not being as… high contrast, high intensity, as many 90s sites.

We have just had stylistic stagnation for a good deal of time now.

                EDIT: Some examples:

                  That looks nice.

I feel like a designer needs to first articulate the intent of the colour usage, before deciding on it.
Because in some places, you want a higher contrast, while in others, you just want a separate colour, without stuff popping out too much. Then there is also the case of less contrasting colours popping out more, because they were used in a larger area than they were chosen for and same the other way round, when you choose a lower contrasting colour combination due to the both colour areas being large enough, like window background vs document background, but then if you end up using the combination for something like text, it becomes hard to read.

So for instance, using the “Tower of Glass” example, one can use the last 2 colour for things like:

                  • window background vs button/field background
                  • button normal vs button hover
                  • background vs alt background (though in this case, I would be looking for even lower contrasting colours

… but not for cases like:

                  • background vs text
                  • background vs border

While you could still also use it for text vs alt-text.
