This is a very narrow view. Between work, commuting, and general life maintenance it can be tough to actually commit 2+ hours to a film, uninterrupted. Tv shows, even long form/miniseries stuff, are just easier to slot. It’s no different from scheduling a meeting at work: scheduling a 150 minute session is something you have to plan weeks in advance, you can get 30 minutes free tomorrow.
It’s not frequent but sometimes you need to design things or make plans which you then break out into smaller sessions.
As for the rest, some people don’t have the same relationship with entertainment you do. I don’t like to split movies, their whole shtick is being consumed in one sitting. I probably watch more on airplanes than at home.
not ‘it’s an undue burden to watch a movie because it’s too long and i don’t have enough time in the day’.
because if you did like movies, you probably would not see them that way.
I have a 40 hour a week job, 20 hours of chores a week, and exercise 10 hours a week. i have plenty of time to watch movies, 2 or more per day if i want. it’s not a matter of time, it’s a matter of priorities.
just like people say they don’t have time for the gym, but sit on their ass 6 hours a day on their phones dawdling.

a movie isn’t a commitment. it’s entertainment. it’s not studying for a class.

“Fun police” can be an oxymoron depending on how you read the words, but regardless of interpretation it’s not welcome.
