A few years ago I was headed to bed and went to go put the stick into the track. As I stand back up my head ramed into the little dangling rod you use to open and close them. As I do the dance of pain, cursing and hold my head in pain I discover the blood running down the side of my head, fuck. I rip the rod off the track go to throw it. I have a moment of clarity realizing I’m about the throw it at my TV. Still mad I throw it at the floor. I then watch in stunned horror as it bounced and did a little twirl into my TV. Said fuck it and went to bed. The next day I ordered new blinds for my back door ( they dont have a rod but string) and went to Costco for a new TV.

So I might have fucked up last week:

I have been contemplating buying a new couch for my house. It being Thanksgiving, I figured this was the best time so I could save some money. So I hopped in my car and went and bought a new couch.

I also decided this would be a good time to rearrange my living room the way I wanted it to be (for the new couch). This meant halving two builtins to accommodate my very large TV stand. My thought process was that I could remove half the builtins without having to remove them completely; I was wrong. Boy, was I wrong.

Not only am I going to have to build all new builtins, but also:

    1. Left an inch gap between the ceiling drywall and the wall
    2. I must’ve cracked the ceiling drywall removing a builtin, so I need to patch the ceiling (its a popcorn ceiling)
    3. The carpet under the builtins is not the same carpet as my living room
    4. The builtins were painted after they were installed — including the wall behind the builtins (i.e. there was no backing to the builtins)
    5. The window on that wall is not centered in the room (in fact, I don’t think anything in that house — window, fireplace — are centered)

So yeah, I can’t help but wonder how many years it’ll be before I fix my living room.

    ~All because of a fucking couch. 🤦‍♂️~

I had no sink in my bathroom for 7 years. Every day I would use the shower to wash my hands or brush my teeth and then think “one of these days I should figure out who to call to install this sink”.

I gave up on the apartment before it happened. I wonder if these days it would have been different with me being medicated.

I have ADHD. I have those awful looking and beat up vertical blinds. I haven’t replaced them because I am busy, lazy as fuck, and don’t give a shit about how crap they look, not because of my ADHD. Not picking up a strip after it falls because I get squirreled away? That’s all on my goofy brain.

Definitely not the cats. Gotta have curtains long-enough to tuck-under them so they can enjoy the couch-cushions and the view, particularly if I want the curtains to also do their duty stopping glare on the TV in the far-corner.

It was a race between my cat chewing the cords holding my horizontal blinds together vs the vertical blinds just deciding to self destruct. I’ve had wet toilet paper that tore less easily then the vertical blinds I have.

Never understood the vertical blinds made of fabric or other flimsy materials. The kind I grew up with, the kind I miss, were thick plastic or vinyl. You could paint them

Unless the stems are breaking, that’s what repair-tabs are for. That said, I can’t believe that’s still the only way the slats are being hung.

Oh wait, I found a thing. I was thinking some sort of clamp would be best, and that’s basically what these are.

Somehow, I doubt it keeps them from being pulled-down again, but at least you should be able to just put them back up again and again this way.
