Senate Dems cannot simply call for Schumer to step down. One of them must take his place, which they can do by calling for and winning a simple majority vote. “Minority leader” is not a position in the Senate or a Constitutional position, like Speaker of the House or President of the Senate. It is only a position within their caucus, so the 48 of them are free to pick a new leader next time they meet. They could do it over Zoom if they want. If you want Schumer to step down, then convince one of his 47 peers to step up.

Because he keeps doing exactly what they want him to do. He does a bad job of pretending to care about the voters, then becomes the lightning rod for the whole party. Why would they call him to step down when his whole job is to protect them from the heat?

Because they were all approached by Chuck to see who didn’t want to run again so they could be the sacrificial votes. Chuck Schumer needs to be removed if democracy will survive. If midterms mean anything, all establishment Dems need to be replaced with progressives and democratic socialists.

Midterms won’t mean anything, though, and even if they did the establishment won’t allow that to happen.

Why not? It would be easy. Just publicly say fuck you to Trump and the rest of the GOP then do all the things they do when they’re in the minority.
