Yeah… the originals were great because of the extraordinary creature work, puppetry and practical effects. I’m guessing we’re going to get none of that, so what’s gonna hold it up? No thanks.

The original is also made better by the more serious tone it takes despite being a “family” movie. I feel it straddled that line better than other movies that try to do similar.

And the 2nd movie was made better by them basically lampooning themselves while still telling a coherent story.

True that was kind of a hallmark of the Spielberg movies of that time, or in general, too bad the messages of all those movies apparently rang totally hollow lol. Anyways, there’s a lot they could do with this, but Hollywoods track record for bringing stuff back after so long is really not good. Although I did enjoy the new Naked Gun movie but that feels a lot less difficult to screw up.

Goddammit. I wzas JUST saying the other day how Gremlins 2 is a perfect sequel in a franchise-dominated world, AND prevents a third movie from being considered. At least from Joe Dante, who is the best person suited to make those movies.

Produced by Spielberg and directed by Chris Columbus? Sounds schmaltzy and they didn’t even start!
