I really hope this is a signal that a lot of people are widening up to the trans scapegoat. We are literally just people trying to live our lives, and we deserve the same rights as everyone else.
I don’t think the people are waking up to the anti-trans propaganda, rather, the cost of living crisis has pushed transphobia down in their list of priorities.
Yeah, like the average family of four has to deal with the fact that a bucket of chicken at KFC costs over $60. So there’s not a lot of financial or mental headspace available to worry about the genitals of your neighbors.
That being said, I’m glad some people are standing up for trans people because the more trans people’s rights are protected, the more the rights of people like me, who is just a random non-white Native American man, are protected.
Trump’s ilk are using the Nazi playbook: find a visible minority that your voterbase finds uncomfortable and dehumanise it until it’s okay to persecute it, then expand dehumanisation to other, less visible or uncomfortable, but troublesome groups.
