    Lovely art, props to the author!

    This refers to the “stoned ape” theory, as it’s commonly known - that hallucinogens played an important role in the developement of human conciousness, and thus everything we ascribe to it.

    This idea was popularly voiced by Terence McKenna. It’s very fun and I like it, but it’s definitely not true.

    Mushrooms don’t really work that way, conciousness definitely doesn’t, and the specific thing it was trying to “explain” (the upper paleolithic cognitive revolution) is widely understood to not be a real thing.

    Stoned ape is fun to talk about, but shouldn’t be mistaken for remotely plausible.

      Especially not if you’re trying to trip on Amanita muscaria as depicted in the comic because the only invention that’s going to inspire is toilet paper.
