As a deep blue Democrat I disagree with this. Republicans are just as hamstringed as the rest of us. MAGA and Trump are responsible for the shutdown.

The party in power right now might like to think of themselves as Republican but they’re not. There is nothing American about the policies and behaviors of the current administration.

I’ll agree that were arguing semantics here. Republicans are selfish and untrustworthy, but at least they make an attempt at governance. Maga is cancer. Trump’s only policy is to punish blue and reward himself.

Yeah, and the GOP is latched on for the ride. A handful of GOP senators and house members crossing the aisle and helping the Dems remove trump from office is all it would take, but they won’t, because they are MAGA. There are zero “old republican” politicians left. Maybe they didn’t put the arm band on, but they’re still helping the fucking neo Nazis.

6 out of 219 in house, and 4 out of 53 in the Senate is all it would take I believe. They don’t even have that.

Everything changes with time. I know you are trying to harken back to the conservatives of old, but they don’t exist in the Republican party anymore.

I grew up having a modicum of respect for them that went out the windows after 9/11. I saw them sell our country out and commit war against innocents purely for profit.

They are no longer fiscally conservative, they are no longer morally conservative, they no longer support the rule of law, the constitution, or the golden rule. They are bereft of all these qualities now.

Are there a few Republicans that don’t believe what their party is doing is right? Sure. This doesn’t mean anything except that they are enablers now.

This is such a brain dead take.
