Unfortunately the cost of an energy drink at least around here is nearly the cost of a large gas station coffee ~2.50$. and that’s for shit gas station coffee, if you go to like Starbucks you will pay double that easily.
I treat caffeine as a drink for the effects, not for the taste. Only energy drinks are good for the taste when I want both.
Instant coffee, raw coffee, the shitty coffee that comes in MRE packets, the fancy stuff that costs too much, espressos, 5-hour energy, I’ll chug it all down all the same. Treat it like vodka or whiskey - don’t bother trying to taste it.
Coffee is cheaper, but it tastes awful, too.
Then you’re making coffee wrong!
(Or just don’t like it, which is totally okay too)
It isn’t the worst taste, but I usually prefer to get my caffeine other ways (mainly tea or soda).
If only I could find (not too expensive) good tea where I live…
You can always mail order. I like Harney & Sons, Yunnan Sourcing, and white2tea.
Good idea, I’m in the EU though.

[sound of 1000 amateur baristas inhaling in preparation for a 2-hour lecture about how you are making your coffee wrong]
