If you want a more middle of the road honeyed and heathered flavor, go for MacCallan 12 or Glenmorangie, both should be under $60. If you want something with salty seaside flavor to it, opt for a speyside like Glenfiddich or a west highland like Oban.
It’s not that jw is a bad whisky, but for what people pay for a bottle of blue, you can get two fantastic bottles of an actual single malt.
