I am flooded with news I don’t even know where to begin first the US and AUS made a deal about their rare earth minerals second Venezuela’s about to go to war and third the government is still in shut down? And to top it all off theres an ai bubble thats about to burst I don’t even know what’s going on anymore half time the world goes back to a semblance of sanity and the next some of the goofiest shit happens I can’t tell if Trump will succeed by some divine miracle or if the incompetence of his own cabinet and himself will derail him

Probably wasn’t originally attributed by Lenin, not that I trust Snopes much. There’s a line from “The Devil” in 1908 by a Dutch guy that reads “There are years, centuries, in which nothing happens, and there are days, like yesterday, into which a whole lifetime is compressed.” Snope at least has that and that would’ve been in Lenin’s life-time.

He has written similar things, as has Marx, though it’s not an exact quotation. Seems to be a modern paraphrase.

In the space of a few days we destroyed one of the oldest, most powerful, barbarous and brutal of monarchies. In the space of a few months we passed through a number of stages of collaboration with the bourgeoisie and of shaking off petty-bourgeois illusions, for which other countries have required decades. In the course of a few weeks, having overthrown the bourgeoisie, we crushed its open resistance in civil war.

        https://quoteinvestigator.com/2020/07/13/decades-weeks/

It’s like Marx’s “history repeats itself” quote, which is more known as a paraphrase.

Yeah, shit feels a bit crazy right now. I didn’t know about the Australia and US rare earth deal, but I’m not gonna lie, the US basically moving at our doorstep here worries me to death. It’s a fucking shame Lula is not saying shit about any of that. The US already exploded more than 10 Venezuelan boats, killing multiple people, all in the name of “combating drug trafficking”, when by the footage you can clearly see not a single one of those boats could cross the fucking ocean to reach the US, there’s literally zero possibility that these boats were carrying drugs, and if they really were, the US could just as easily capture one and use it as proof, which would 100% convince a shit ton of people of the “need to invade Venezuela”.

Unfortunately my mom watches a lot of CNN here in Brasil (more like have it as background noise, but she still pays attention sometimes), and the way they report on Venezuela boils my blood, every single journalist there makes sure to always call Maduro a dictator and always refers to it’s government as a regime, they are quite literally doing the US’s work by manufacturing consent for the invasion. It doesn’t help that the average brasilian has always heard of Venezuela as a “dictatorship”, and buy that wholesale.

Also, the US has been pressuring us a lot about our rare earth, basically trying to make us sell it to them unprocessed, which sucks because exploring these resources could be a path to the re-industrialization of Brasil, which is something the US most likely doesn’t want to happen.

It’s just like the Marxist content creators here said would happen under Trump, a different direction for their international policy where the US turns it’s eyes to Latin America again, it’s Big Stick 2.0 it seems like, after all to the empire we are just their “backyard”.

Also, for anyone reading, what does the government shut down in the US mean exactly? I hear it mentioned a lot, but I haven’t really searched about it.

I am interested in knowing more about Venezuela. Despite being a Latin american I know really little. Here people call it a social democracy and Maduro calls Venezuela socialist. Any resource you can recommend to me?

My understanding is that Venezuela is not socialist (at least in a Marxist sense) and it’s more akin to social democracy like you said, but I’m not very knowledgeable on Venezuela as a whole. There is this 2 year old video by Brasilian Marxist content creator Ian Neves about Venezuela being Socialist or not and its history. I’m rewatching it right now.

Other than that, the ProleWiki page on the PSUV is very short but classify the party as being democratic socialist. The page on Chavismo is a bit bigger and provides more context into the ideology.

One thing I remember hearing before is that Venezuela is one of the countries with the biggest amount of observers in it’s elections, but I can’t find a source for that, all I get is news and articles claiming the last elections lacked transparency and were fraudulent.

Still, it would be better to ask other comrades here and/or on Hexbear about it, they will have much more resources about it.

Australia can’t process anything. The US is trying to develop it (Energy fuels) but it will take a long time and it will be expensive as fuck.

I fucking hate my country for what it’s done to glaze the US. We should be telling them to fuck off and pursuing closer relations with China and Cuba, etc.

The supply of rare earths from Australia is projected to be sufficient only for the military needs of the United States. For civilian applications, the U.S. will continue to face significant supply chain challenges.

We are facing a crisis of the Capitalistic order, we do not know if it will cause a new evolution of Capitalism, a nuclear world war or the transition to Socialism.

No, Venezuela is just a bandaid fix for the bauxite and oil, China still controls the vast majority of rare earth minerals that the US is in desperate need of ever since they shot themselves in the foot with the trade war. Keep in mind the maintenance of the US war machine gets more expensive by the day and a growing number of vehicles aren’t even combat ready anymore. Combined with the depletion of the Tomahawk missile thanks to our buddies in Iran and the Russia-Nato war and one starts to see that the US truly is just a paper tiger.

Trump attempting to get leverage to negotiate with Xi at Apec meeting. (Don’t forget seizure of Nexperia). He collects more stupid shitty stuff so he can bargain. This is the Art of the Deal.
