Look, you subscribe to an ideology, which is fine, and you and the .ml crowd seem to hold an extreme version of that ideology. The ideology itself doesn’t even matter, it’s that people holding extreme viewpoints are obsessive about them. Obsessive behavior does not make it easy to have a normal conversation about anything. No one “worries” about seeing religious speech. It’s that if you engage with anyone from, or anything posted in, a Christian-leaning instance, about any topic at all, you’ll eventually be hit with “All things are possible through Christ!” or the rest of their standard “I just converted and this is deep” zealot talking points like some mandatory checklist of things they have to cram into every post or they get kicked out of the instance. It’s exhausting and pointless. No one runs around elsewhere in Lemmy making it a point to defend Satan, so it’s just of a constant eye-roll when “I’m an independent thinker! And while I understand there are numerous studies that say nothing will ever change your mind and I am wasting my time, I will tell you that if you really worry about “The Left” getting a fair shake, you have to realize that other than the Democratic party, people who do a bad job communicating what “The Left” does means or wants do more help to the fascists on the right by seeming unable to operate like a reasonable human, straight up lying when confronted about being bad communicators, and forcing yourself to the fringes of even left-leaning Lemmy because you can’t keep your shit together.
