Hi! Im a transgirl who’s very much at the start of her physical transition, and I wanted to ask if people here have some tips for facial makeup, specifically to cover beard and beard shadow. I would love to find maybe one product that just gets the job done as I don’t really want to start having an elaborate makeup routine. Is there such a thing?
Only way I know how involves (at least) two products, something called a peach corrector (which should be the opposite color of your beard shadow, check online for color wheels then get a corrector that’s color most closely matches the one opposite from the color of your beard shadow). The second product would be a foundation ( I had liquid one) that has a strong cover effect.
Apply the corrector in the direction of the hair growth, not against it. Blend out well, then apply the foundation. If you find foundation that super closely matches your skin tone you might be able to get away with just applying it to the places where you used the corrector but more likely you need to use it on your whole face.
Which brings us to the “at least” part of my answer. If you use foundation on your whole face, you could look a little bit too…hmm uniform? Normally I would correct that with a bit of rouge on top of my cheekbones (blend that out as well a bit) and a little bit of conturing at the edge of my face as well as on my nose.
Hope this helps :) for makeup I can really recommend checking out a ton of youtube videos until you find someone who’s style of makeup and teaching you like and just trying to copy that. You will soon find different little ways of make it your own. Good luck sister, you got this! :3
As mentioned by others, an orange-peach color corrector will cancel out most blues and greens coming through due to hair follicles. It’s gonna make your skin look very orange, but then you’ll cover that with a foundation close to your skin tone. Then take a blending brush and blend blend blend, working back and forth, even circling in some spots to evenly distribute. Start with small applications or it won’t look natural. I currently use LA Girl HD Pro Conceal (orange corrector), where my foundation is L’Oreal True Match (W2).
For makeup application, I highly recommend looking at Alexandra Anele on YouTube. Her videos aren’t exactly aimed at trans women, but I find her skill and technique very straightforward and classy and not too over the top. She also has a very sweet personality and is fun to watch, especially since she explains what she’s doing and what she’s using. I recommend her because I think all trans girls should look this good, not the whole alt/goth/prostitute “I missed my second puberty” slap dash.
If you’re lucky and the contrast isn’t too bad or if you’re happy just reducing it slightly you could try a bb/cc cream. It’s far from perfect and dark hair will absolutely show through but gives a bit of a reduction and is pretty forgiving.
As the other commenter pointed out, peach corrector but with a few other makeup stuff ss well
I don’t know any “one” product. Any kind of orange concealer that covers shadow still is kinda orange 😅 so you wanna cover that up too.
depends on your shadow, you might be able to get by with just a skin tone concealer🤷
