hi folks, I’m visiting Oslo with my partner in December for just four days. Since we’re not exactly fans of the most popular and touristy attractions, we’d like to visit places and hidden gems that locals know about. We won’t have a car and, as mentioned, we’ll only be staying for four days, so I wouldn’t consider going too far from the city. Do you have any suggestions, any specialties you’d recommend?
our main interests would be:
- culture
- nature
- folklore
- music
- tea houses / craft beer / specialty coffee
- bike shops
(We’re both vegan, so no butcher shops or meat-based dishes to try :D )
thank you!
If you want to experience the culture, you need to think and act as if you were a friendly but very dumb person, think like Forest Gump, but replace the running skills with walking in circles, then you will truly understand the norwegian culture.
Visit Oslo Camping in Møllergata for beer and crazy golf. Good times. For nice nature walks or skiing, you can take the subway or local trains to Nordmarka, Østmarka or Lillomarka. Holmenkollbanen to Frognerseteren, T-banen (subway) to Skullerud or bus 56 to Solemskogen. There’ll be a Christmas market in Spikersuppa, between Stortinget (Parliament) and the Royal Castle.
Sorry to hear about the veganism, can’t help you there - have you seen a specialist? 😆
