I am not sure when curbside composting started being offered as a service, but I don’t recall hearing about it more than a decade ago. On the other hand, I remember seeing green recycling bins in the 90s (which is a far back as I can remember anything). In my town, we use both green and blue (covered) recycling bins. The color indicates the recycling schedule (they are picked up on alternating weeks).
