But like they kind of voted their whole lives for this. Every time they were asked, they voted for exactly this or atleast the majority did.
And they keep voting for it.
I don’t have the spoons to type up a long response at the moment, but just stop.
That’s just another part of the rhetoric those in power are using to divide us.
And while Democrats are unarguably better than the shitshow we have right now, no one makes it to those levels of politics while actually representing the people instead of the corporate lobbiests.
Politicians are not held accountable to follow through on what they campaigned on, and it’s not like there are many choices in the US in the first place.
Look, I get what you’re getting at, but I’m not going to apologize for assuming the context primarily applying to the US in this.
As far as I understand it, the baby boom is a particularly US term. Likewise, I understand the stereotype about getting a job with a smile and a handshake as a primarily US stereotype from the hugh availability of jobs here post WW2.
I’m not saying it didn’t happen elsewhere, I’m saying that I’m personally not aware of the situation with elderly population and their stereotyped beliefs in countries outside the US.
I think this discussion would be far more productive if you, or others, maybe spoke about those trends and trends of beliefs elsewhere if you’re familiar with them, rather than whatever you’re trying to do here because I personally am not familiar with them.
whatever you’re trying to do here because I personally am not familiar with them.
You didn’t specify you were talking about the US. I was simply pointing out that your audience includes people from outside the US. People that are tired of Americans acting like they are the default people of the internet.

It happened across the western world. It had honestly not a lot to do with WWII, and actually was caused by Demographic Transition due to factors like healthcare improvements, better food supply from improved farming techniques, better sanitation, etc. Essentially, it wasn’t “let’s have more babies” it was “all the babies we’re having are surviving to adulthood oops”. Not having another great war 20 years later also helped.
I want everyone to get what they want. I want people who voted for evil shit to get evil shit done to them. I want people who voted for good shit to have good shit done to them.
I don’t get to decide what’s good and what evil. All I get is to see how it all plays out. If these people keep voting for the right and now their life sucks because of the politicians they voted for then they are just getting what they asked for. The only sad part is everyone else who didn’t vote that way is also dealing with it.
The demographics have changed quite a bit in the Baby Boomer crowd, maybe cause of Covid? Baby Boomers are more left leaning than Gen X for instance, at least based on 2024’s election data, in the US. Both still overwhelmingly vote right-wing, but Baby Boomers are 48% left wing and 51% right wing.
i mean i get what they are saying, but it is also kind of about what they are voting for.
I mean they all (*majority) keep voting conservative and they also will for the rest of their lives.
They doesn’t mean they deserve to be homeless nor does it make them less victimized by capitalism.
well no i dont want them to be homeless.
But like they kind of voted their whole lives for this. Every time they were asked, they voted for exactly this or atleast the majority did. And they keep voting for it.
Lotta boomers and older folks at those No Kings rallies.
Lotta young wannanazis too
My family votes progressive in the primary and D in the general, from the folks in their 90s on down.
Age isn’t the deciding factor, it’s empathy.

not sure what you are talking about.
it is litteraly them using their free will and right to vote, to vote for the most conservative party, every single time.
they would rather die then ever vote in favor of even a little bit less capitalism.
and there are other countries than the us and they also do the same in those, no matter how many options there are
In America, with your specific set of electoral laws.
Yeah, and that just so happens to be where I live, and where peoole tend to complain the most about boomers voting right wing.
If it’s a common thing in other countries as well, I’ve not seen nearly as much articles and chatter about it.
Because America dominates the english-speaking web?
