Brexit impact on UK economy 'negative for foreseeable future', Bank of England chief says

The bank's governor, Andrew Bailey, said for nearly a decade he had been careful to "take no position on Brexit" but when asked directly about its impact on economic growth he "had to answer that question".

He has said:

I take no position per se on Brexit… But, I quite often get asked a second question: what’s the impact on economic growth?

And the answer is that for the foreseeable future it is negative.

    Plenty they will just be overrun with idiots.

    And the EU would be pretty daft if they accepted us.
