Yeah that’s a tough situation, man. On the one hand you’d risk anything to save your wife’s life. On the other hand you have to guarantee above all that your kids don’t lose BOTH their parents.

The job he took should demand he focus first on saving all possible victims. No, he should not have to guarantee that above all, he’s paid to prioritize saving victims.

I don’t mean to be mean or pedantic, but the police are not paid to save victims, or even prevent crimes or enforce morals. They are paid to enforce the law, and nothing else.

Its why a major part as to why they suck so bad.

In this case, stopping the shooter was enforcing the law, because the shooter was doing something highly illegal

And even then, enforcing the law is what they do in their spare time if they feel like it. Even calling them Law Enforcement is a stretch.

I mean if we’re being 💯, then they’re paid to enforce the law for wealthy capitalists. They don’t give a shit if your house gets robbed.

You’re not wrong. But this situation is so twisted that it is almost like a philosophy thought experiment. Obviously he’s thinking about more than just his job protocols.

        Watch this from PBS:

        https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/documentary/inside-the-uvalde-response/

It was more complicated than running in guns blazing. Which, yeah, they should have done, in retrospect. Yeah, they should have trained for such an event, in retrospect.

I’m not excusing the cops, and neither does the documentary, but the whole event was a Bulgarian clusterfuck of Biblical proportions.

CAVEAT: Gonna take some guts to make it the whole hour on that documentary, but you gotta do it if you want to form an opinion.

EDIT: Apparently the downvoters don’t have to the balls to face evidence. How so very conservative.

There’s no simple tl;dr: soundbite here. But if y’all want to stick to what you learn from headlines, you’re no better than the fascists who do the exact same thing. We are not on the same “side”.

It’s a common event in America and an easily predictable possibility. No, they should’ve been fully trained for it even from a perspective prior to the event. Doubly so in gun and maga ridden texas

You didn’t have time to watch the video before you posted this. Your opinion means nothing until you have done so, then we can have a reasoned discussion. That was rather the point of my whole fucking post.

This is why I don’t seek leftist allies IRL. You are no better than conservative, FaceBook Boomers. You believe everything fed to you in your chosen echo chamber(s). Your opinion is molded by sound bites.

Most of you people comment without reading past the headline. FFS, most online media these days is written at a 4th-grade level and most Americans can’t read past 6th.

…what? I don’t need to watch the video to understand the basic facts of reality in America. I’m not watching gore just so that I won’t change my mind as it will not present any information that would change the reality of America.

You have 4th grade statistical analysis skills if you think it wasn’t a predictable and important to learn to deal with probability.

That was rather the point of my whole fucking post.

And your post was wrong dipshit.

You believe everything fed to you in your chosen echo chamber(s). Your opinion is molded by sound bites.

That’s a hilarious take. The number of people with my circle of politics beliefs is so rare that I can barely even find one to have a circle with. My opinions are home grown thank you!

I think it’s more about the stress and ability to perform in that situation. Saying leaving isn’t his decision.
