Large scale reef restoration, new real-time water monitoring and a $1 million trial of “AI-powered submersible cytobots” are part of a $102.5 million government algal bloom program to ensure “South Australians can enjoy their summer”.
Yes, anything but riding a bike, banning cars , closing aiports, installing electrified PT and fast rail, eating less meat, banning new gas and coal etc just algae robots ffs.
Just toss money away on this nonsense and theatre., while global warming can and will only get worse.
“Governments announce full details of $102.5m algal bloom”
i thought they were creating an algal bloom, reading that title.
reading the article, there seems to be some unusual concepts like “AI powered submersible cytobots”, “clay and gyroid absorbent sponge technology” as well as some odd policies like a tourism package and life saving patrols inspecting the water.
lot of focus about new things, with no mention of reducing pollution and climate change. is that not an option? is it just not mentioned?
are these new measures better than reducing pollution and climate change, or is it just politics like “carbon capture and storage”?
The government is reactionary, I think in part it’s a symptom of a 4 year election cycle. You can spend 100m to potentially fix a problem and people are “happy”. Try to spend a couple of billion to reduce the root cause and people blow a seal.
