Veterans are facing federal charges after protesting ICE sweeps and Trump’s national guard deployments. The justice department claims the veterans were violent
US military veterans increasingly face arrest and injury amid protests over Donald Trump’s deportation campaign and his push to deploy national guard members to an ever-widening number of American cities.
The Guardian has identified eight instances where military veterans have been prosecuted or sought damages after being detained by federal agents.
The latest incident occurred in Broadview, outside Chicago, where 70-year old air force veteran Dana Briggs was charged with felony assault on a federal officer on 29 September.

I’m a firm believer that people don’t deserve a lifetime of “Thank you for your service” for shooting some brown kids in the name of oil and getting revenge for daddy.

Keep in mind most of the folks who signed up probably didn’t expect to be sent to kill brown kids due to a bunch of government lies…If those same folks are the ones standing up to the fascists I’d suggest they have always tried to serve the country well

The country illegally invades other countries, torture its citizens, in the name of finding WMDs and bringing democracy. Their infrastructure is destroyed and thousands of civilians are killed as collateral damage.
Yet some people sign up to do that job and expect the very same government that disregard human lives and rights in other countries to treat them like heroes.
They are serving the interests of capitalism and the rich, and are surprised when the very same system that they thought were defending turns on them?! How fucking naive can a person be?
The US could send its “veterans” in a meat grinder once they are used for corporations’ benefit and people would still sign up for it.
These are the people who, when they were kids, would tease, tournament and bully other kids, but the moment there was any sort of pushback they would cry to the nearest adult.
