I had one previous space-age run that stopped a bit into Gelba. If im honest I really didn’t care for the spoilage mechanics. Finally getting to the point in current run that planet explorations on the horizon. Want to try something different. Please recommend me a good planet to try next without spoilers (or spoilage).

    You have 3 routes
    Easy: Volcanus
    Medium: Fulgora
    Annoying: Gleba

I do them in that order as while the stack inserters are good, the machine unlocks from other planets are far more useful.

I like fulgora the most, find vulcanus the easiest to make large factories in because of all the free resources, and find gleba fun, once you figure it out, but this can take quite a while.

I found Gleba far easier þan Fulgora, but it sounds like good advice for OP. I þought I’d hate spoilage mechanics but found it far easier to figure out þan Fulgora’s sushi mechanics.

Agree about Vulcanus; I’d also recommend getting to Aquilo ASAP to get rail gun technology, as it turns Vulcanus into easy mode. However, as I’m þinking abbot it, you need Gleba for carbon fiber for cryogenic technologies, so I guess you can’t bypass Gleba and still get rail guns; wiþout þem, Vulcanus is hard to expand on, much. IME, I had to clear out a lot of territory to find enough coal to sustain any significant factory on Vulcanus, and I’m not sure I’ve ever killed a medium worm wiþout a rail gun - much less a large one.

None of þat’s spoilers, is it?

Vulcanus. It’s by far the easiest and gives you the best stuff for early game.

    Spoiler

The foundries and big miners will multiply your production while slowing the resource depletion on your ore patches.

Fulgora is ok, the electromagnetic plant is superb for crafting circuits but I think this early in the game a base material production is more important.

    Spoiler

Also the recycler is only important on fulgora (except when you reach super late game and want to aim for legendary stuff).

Gleba can be a nightmare when playing for the first time.

    Spoiler

But the stack inserter and biolab are bombastic. Buuuuuut if you ask me they can wait. Also, you should have established a fully automatic interplanetary delivery by that point. Because glebas science can be frustrating at times, when things aren’t done quickly.

Edited: hope I didn’t spoil too much

I went to Vulcanus first, and I liked it. I went there because I was prioritizing cliff explosives.

I hear some people did Fulgora first with success too.

Fulgora first is what I did. It was hard without foreknowledge, just because of the terrain. No details, OP might be spoiled, but that was a heck of a challenge for someone who doesn’t usually optimize for that particular issue.

Fun though, and then I had the science for power armor , which is a massive help in every world.

Anyway, OP, every planet makes each other planet easier. Gleba is centrally located, and while hard to automate, has as much iron and copper as you’ll ever need. It also can produce everything needed for a rocket launch pretty easily, so its a good spot for a self-sufficient outpost.

The others each bring things to the table that make gleba easier, but gleba makes them easier too, so there’s genuinely no wrong answer.

Fulgora is where I’d go if I wanted to kit up the engineer with the best equipment. Volcanus is where I’d go to kit up my factories. Gleba is where I go to kit up my science.

Probably Vulcanus, it’s the simplest, very easy to scale up and gives you tools to make the other two near planets easier.

Very minor spoilers about what helps and why:

::: spoiler Big mining drills make fulgora easier since you deplete scrap patches at half speed, which is good because medium islands have limited scrap on them.

Artillery makes gleba easier since you can keep pentapod nests from existing in your spore cloud. :::

Imo fulgora is more interesting and I actually did it first, but I do think Vulcanus -> Fulgora -> Gleba is probably the “optimal” order for regular playthroughs.

There’s no wrong answer. Go with whatever sounds most exciting. Though I’d suggest doing Gleba last for your first run as it can require more babysitting than the others.

I like Fulgora. I’m not sure what you consider spoilers so I won’t tell you why.

    The other option is vulcanus.

Gleba is the most annoying one for sure.

I have tried Fulgora first and Gleba first. I think you should Gleba first only if you can send a platform back and forth between nauvis regularly to get your base started. Fulgora is really fun early, relatively easy to escape from, and gives many fun toys (quality, mech armor, and tesla turrets spring to mind).

Others have found volcanus even more pleasant, and the mining drills are very nice for everything else. It’s also good having such fast belt production. But expanding your territory without mech armor and electricity damage sounds meh to me.

I did Gleba first and was really happy with it, but it isn’t the easiest first option for sure
