People do this to me all the time and I just don’t find it offensive at all, don’t feel guilty just answer when you feel like it. If someone has a problem with you answering really late well that’s their problem.

Respond unapologetically. If there was a time sensitive subject, thank them for their patience/understanding. If they have a problem after that, they will either let you know or not - deal with it then (provide reasons if you wish, not excuses).

People are often way too focused on their screens all the time, we need to walk all this back a bit.
