You just always knock it out of the park with your art - always a pleasure to see it and thanks for sharing 💜

Yea, our day went similarly today. A potential new landlady will be coming to see our flat tomorrow, so we made sure to deep-clean the entire flat top to bottom. Took basically the entire day and I’m just so exhausted. Sending you lots of endurance and cool video essays to listen to ✨

On holiday right now, first time bringing the dog on a trip and we’re all struggling with her indigestion, motion sickness, pickiness, separation anxiety and constipation 😂

    It’s difficult, there’s stamina management, I’m calling it a Souls-like

Love Enotria featured on that banner! I probably will not play any Soulslike this weekend, I’m gearing up to replay Alan Wake 2 and I’m also sort of wanting to finish Cronos: The New Dawn.

However, I might very well jump on the opportunity to join the playtest of Valor Mortis before it’s over. Looks very interesting, someone described it as “first person Lies of P” - basically a Napoleonic era themed Soulslike FPS.

I’ve reached Chapter 9 and beat the 2 Rabbit 2 Brotherhood and tried my hands at the DLC. Jesus, I thought they patched the difficulty - it’s near impossible to progress. The basic zombies two-shot me and nearly every enemy I encounter is too tanky to reliably kill before I get ganked by three enemies.

Might have to level up some more since I’ve been down this road before on a NG+ run right when the DLC dropped and it was such a slog to beat enemies and bosses. But I just wanted to get to the DLC as fast as possible again because I’ve only done one playthrough of it and want to experience it again. Not really sure what to do now since I don’t want to progress the main game but also don’t want to mindlessly farm levels. Might have to then down the difficulty again. 🙃

Oof, On a fresh save? Whack! Sounds like it’s scaled for after beating the main story? Or do you need to go back to the base game to beat the final boss? Anyway, you can do it, I believe in you! as you said, there’s also the difficulty option to avoid the level grind.

Yea probably, sorta. If you want to access the DLC as soon as it’s available, there’s a pop-up notifying you about the potential high difficulty at the current stage of the playthrough. So maybe they want you to go into it on NG+, but even then there was the same pop-up. Maybe it’s just always there?

In theory, you could play through the entire game up until NP and then go beat the DLC. As long as you do before finishing your playthrough, you can go there whenever.

Thanks :D I’ll have to weigh my options. I think the enemies drop more ergo too - maybe I can find a farming spot there so at the very least I can stay in the DLC and don’t have to travel back and forth.

Have you decided if you’ll be buying it sometime soon?

Apart from the ending, did you like the game overall? How does it fare compared to the other soulslikes you’ve played? I’ve heard mixed reviews

The first one was pretty bad gameplay wise. It was pretty slow but also had a mechanic where the souls (vigor…) you dropped on death would vanish over time.

The second one (2023 edition) is way better gameplay wise. Feels pretty Darksouls 3 combat wise, at least for a strength/tank, pure bonk no shield, build.

It also has a pretty cool lore! I think they had to rush the ending for some reason. The last region feels very much like there was a cool concept and even more cool lore to be had. But the last boss feels gimicky almost to the level of bed of chaos.

But I did like the umbral mechanics with the lamp and fully entering umbral gives you access to more exploration through riddles. They do get a bit repetitive at the end but it is a cool touch in my opinion.
