i am considering getting a full fare myki while eligible for concession as i heard the ticket inspectors target concession mykis hard, and you may need to go through hassle to get certain ID to use a concession myki. which doesn’t seem worth the discount
But if you are obviously eligible for some kind of concession (student, senior, child, whatever) is using the full fare myki fineable? and would authorised officers try to target you for this? i couldn’t find any information about this

Yeah, if you’re using a concession ticket make sure you have the required proof (according to the rules on transport.vic.gov.au) for the specific type of concession you’re claiming, and that you have it with you, or you’ll get a fine.
Also “Student” is only for school students, full-time tertiary student eligibility is for a “concession”.
When they’re doing barrier exit checks (mostly city stations) they’ll be checking the concessions only because the barriers make a different sound/light for a concession myki.
Otherwise the only extra hassle is having to show your relevant concession ID with your myki when inspectors are doing the rounds; I always liked to take forever to find a valid ID (“Oh, is that one expired? Wait I think it’s in here…”) to delay them and give fare evaders a chance to escape.
I think the half-price fares are worth the hassle, and health care card in particular is useful for other stuff, e.g. some GPs will bulk-bill then.
They absolutely won’t fine you. Everyone is eligible for full adult fare.
I was considering jumping through all the hoops to get a carer’s card (my kids have diagnoses, and my wife got a card) but I don’t think it’a worth the effort if I get jumped by ticketos every morning.
it sucks that concession use is targeted heavily by ticketos. i don’t think its like this in any other state and territory. wish the vic government would do a royal commission on ticket inspectors.

I’m not lost, though I didn’t come here on purpose. I’m certain it makes perfect sense to locals, and I found it funny how utterly incomprehensible it was to me
