The first creature to crawl up out of the water should’ve just stayed there instead and spared us all the evolutionary conga line to this fucked state of events.

I’m gonna guess… the target is the first guy to crawl out of the water and they’re taking 'em out because it was a mistake to leave the ocean? Of course someone else would’ve come along to evolve towards crab anyway.

The creature is a Labyrinthodont, an ancestor of the modern amphibians (and therefore us humans) and one of the first vertebra leaving water.
