Man, even the 80’s ‘kids’ movie were intense.

    • Dark Crystal
    • Last Starfighter - Head Melting, Clone face
    • Labyrinth - Tunnel of Hands
    • Some scene’s from Neverending Story,
    • Some scene’s from Secret of Nimh

I think the 80’s had a huge leap in practical special effects, and it ended up fucking scaring the shit out of everyone.

It was just good enough, and yet not, to really hit that uncanny valley

I watched all the horror classics before I was ten … I just don’t remember them so I’ve been thinking of watching them again.

Probably messed up my young child mind but … meh … what the hell, it was messed up to begin with.

Kids are evil. Grimm’s fairy tales aren’t classics because they’re good writing or timeless mythos, they’re classics because children love hearing about dark shit

i was 12 when seeing my first Freddy Kruger movie at a sleepover. I was fascinated and not really scared when watching (i was watching really closely), but i had nightmares nonetheless.

There has only been one movie in my life where i stopped watching because i couldn’t take it anymore, and that was The Hunt. I was 41 at that point, and also had nightmares afterwards.

E: My reason for the nightmares were the screaming unfairness and that he couldn’t make anyone listen. That hit too close to my childhood for me.

As an adult, realizing that Freddy was a child predator and that the neighborhood parents took justice into their own hands completely changed my view on the movie.

At some friend’s place we watched some “cannibal feroce” or something where they strapped a girls head through a hole in a table, cut it open with a machete and ate the brain. In for that time a quite realistic way. I don’t know what the parents were thinking. Maybe PEGI ratings aren’t that bad after all.
