If you linked a Twitter link, YDI. That community has a rule that forbids x links.

Except there is no twitter link and the text field also has a description.

I am linking a video from what is a pretty decent privacy channel, so it is on topic. I am not being rude, pushing a shitcoin or ad for big tech, nor is it a repost. I did PM the mod saying:

I’m not sure why my post is removed. Its relevant to privacy as that’s the theme for that channel. Its not an x link and I included the description of the video in the text field.

I would at least like a reply back as to why its removed so that I can keep that in mind next time I want to share something that may be relevant.

I’m not familiar with this post, and unfortunately I don’t think I received any reports for it since I’m from another instance. Best would be to hear from one of the other mods

I do see that there is an X/twitter link in the quoted body of the post, which might be the cause of that part of the message. As for the video, [email protected] had a similar discussion recently on what to do about clickbait titles for videos. It’s a hard one to deal with. As Lemmy grows, I can see it becoming a bigger problem and requiring stricter rules.

So to me it looks like the content is on topic, but it’s a case of quality control

The video is pretty good (the whole channel is something I think the com would like). Still do you feel it would be better for me to change the title to one that is descriptive or keep the title as OP made (likely trying to game the algo)

I feel that I shouldn’t make the final call for moderation in this community since I’m here more as support/spam removal, so I’d go with whatever the other mods decide.

In most other communities, when I’m posting something potentially clickbait-y, I prefer to edit the title and then make it clear that I edited it, either with square brackets or by mentioning the edit in the post body. I might also add why I’m sharing something if it’s not clear (ex. that the analysis is good, or the channel is something the community would like). That seems to reduce the chance of complaints/reports/mod actions.

The main exception being the communities that are strict about requiring the original title (ex. News communities mostly)
