I noticed this today when I installed windows to use some overclocking tools that have no linux equivalent. I was running minecraft for windows in the background to warm up the air in the pc. Does anyone know what the third minecraft entry is?

Everyone that has purchased Minecraft from the website has both java and bedrock edition. People who didnt have the other one previously received it and people who buy the game now get both

I’m pretty sure as of some time ago if you bought one any time you get both now but I originally bought java when it was the only option and got bedrock free which iirc was originally limited time. mc java doesn’t have ms/xbox account achievements as far as I could tell though and the images are from the achievements list. I wouldn’t have even noticed if one didn’t pop while screwing around waiting to see if the comp would crash.

minecraft for windows is bedrock. seemingly every non java edition available from windows app store is the same bedrock when launched and I was just wondering what this mystery third instance is. all 3 in my m$ account are presumably bedrock. maybe xbox but I don’t recall ever playing minecraft on console

I dont think java has achievements like that. Its the version I play. So I just ruled that out. I haven’t seen it in another launcher.

Ah so Microsoft has some sort of aggregate view between console and PC games your account owns then. I’ve never used gamepass, and haven’t had an Xbox for over a decade so I guess I should just stfu

Aren’t Bedrock and Pocket Edition the same?

When Pocket Edition reached loose feature parity with Java they ported it to Windows, and called it “Bedrock”, as I understand the history.

    Minecraft for Xbox?

If I recall correctly Xbox consoles had at least two versions pre-bedrock and bedrock.

I don’t recall ever playing on xbox but maybe some number of years ago one of my brothers did while the console was logged in with my account. It seems to be the most likely explination
