There was a post on science sub on reddi (read through redlib) about how conservatives change their stance based on context (hateful among themselves but pretend to be arguing in good faith when they see their shitty views might get challenged) and their argument was “you get dogpilled for shitty opinions on all of reddit but it doesn’t happen on conservative subs and asked people to prove that it happens”

But because conservative sub delete all the misaligned comments and posts, no one could “prove” it. This was how they proved the left was more aggressive than the right. The mental gymnastics is way over the top.

tldr; Conservatives think getting dogpiled for shitty opinions is worse than censorship they employ themselves to silence opposition. And since all major social media is built in a way censorship can’t be traced, they have the high ground.

Reminds me of all those MGTOW (“Men going their own way”) forums/subreddits that were ubiquitous 10-15 years ago. Half of the posts were “Is it manly/unmanly to do [thing]?”… like literally unironically doing the “Fellas, is it gay to…?” meme.

Nothing says “going your own way” like seeking approval from others, let alone Internet strangers.
