Someone cooked/is cooking means they are doing something impressive or cool
Someone is cooked means they did something bad
Thank you! That explains why I got so confused. I had inferred from other phrases before that “being cooked” was bad, so I thought all instances of the “cooking” slang were the same. But I’m guessing it’s like the “shit” slang, where “being shit” and “being the shit” have two completely different connotations.
