Pay. announces today having successfully completed its first Wero transaction with a test merchant.
In the end of 2025, Wero will be available via Pay. in Germany, followed by Belgium in H1 2026. The rollout in the Netherlands will start beginning of H2 2026, in line with iDEAL’s migration to Wero.

Very interesting. This appears to finally move online payment processing away from MasterCard and Visa.
It’s crazy how powerful MasterCard and Visa and how much this flies under the public’s radar.
Please can we have Wero in Canada? In loonies, though?
As a consumer and a merchant this is great. But as a payment processor I wonder if this is a positive thing. These payment processors often enjoy a regional moat, usually due to network effects. Eventually Wero will be a standalone service thst does not depend on these payment providers at all. So they are helping make this transition come true that will make them obsolete.
Not that I care much about the feelings of payment processors anyway. Just thinking out loud
