I liked this way more than I thought I would. Given the 18 minute runtime, I think this was great. It even got me a little emotional Could it have developed more of everything? Definitely, but I think this got everything across it needed with the time it had. I would love to see a full film of this though. I’d be very interested to see more of the world. There’s clearly more than they were able to show. I think the SEA cultural influences are so cool and I think it’s a unique take on isekai. The Naga looks incredible.
Kevin Penkin’s music really elevated the whole thing. Man, can this dude write amazing soundtracks.

Honestly worth watching just for the soundtrack. It was that good.
Yeah, it really is
The link to the stream is broken. It should point to Gigguk’s channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-P3HWXGYm4
Interesting short film. It moved at a quick pace so that I didn’t get bored, and was slow enough to let scenes breath and let you think about what’s happening.
Also, I’ve never heard of Gigguk before this point. But apparently he’s a anime fan/influencer, and once upon a time worked for the BBC. I hope this ends up being profitable. I really enjoy indy anime. It can just do a lot more experimental stuff.
As an independently-produced short film, its production values punch above its weight. Gigguk is really passionate about anime, and I love it each time the medium portrays non-East Asian cultural elements.
Not that long ago, I’ve made it a goal to someday produce even a short anime. This inspires me towards that point.
Done!
This is pretty good. I’d be down to watch a whole season of this anime.
