I fucking hate my state and my country at this point. Scores of school shootings get “thoughts and prayers,” but one asshole dying was the tipping point to allow the full weight of fascism to bear down?
These fuckers are conspiracy theorists to the core, but given the swift retaliation across the country for just saying that Charlie Kirk was a dick, I don’t know what to make of the situation. Sure seems convenient.
Texas State University has ended the enrollment of a student who appeared to mock the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a campus memorial event earlier this week.
A video posted to social media on Tuesday morning shows the student in the crowd slapping his neck multiple times, calling himself “Charlie Kirk”, and imitating Kirk when he was fatally shot in the neck on 10 September at Utah Valley University.
“Charlie Kirk got hit in the neck, b—h,” the person says in the video.
At one point in the video, the person can be seen walking through the crowd and up on to a statue, where he mimics Kirk getting shot and pretends to fall down.
The video quickly gained attention, prompting Texas’s governor, Greg Abbott, a Republican, to share the video and call for the student to be expelled.
Also, obligatory Fuck Greg Abbott (it’s a popular phrase here in Austin, though often abbreviated to FGA). Now he also works in admissions for Texas State? Where are the fucking flood warning sirens on the Guadalupe? Oh, that’s right, the special session instead focused on even more extreme gerrymandering.
Hours after it happened I had this hole in my stomach from how bad I wanted panicking conservatives to realize this level of alarm and fear is how regular people feel ALL the time. There are parents whose kids won’t ever come home again and THEY’RE not unique, they don’t matter, and the DOJ isn’t acting as their goddamn lawyer. Right Wingers are reacting like this because this is the first time a shooting at a school campus hurt someome they registered as real and not a crisis actor. Again, being angry, freigtened, and heartbroken is how the rest of America feels about gun violence, and we’re just told to get over it. It sucks it had to happen to someone they knew for that reality the rest of us live to sink in
This is literally the world I and many others grew up. Rifle rounds have more freedom on campus than students do.
Yeah it’s absolutely disgusting how you can just tell that this is the first time a lot of these people have seen the victim as an actual person. Even more so that I know already that this isn’t going to change any of their minds. They will without a hint of irony just say “No this time it’s different!” as they screech about the Radical Left murdering innocent people. Like so many things they only care when it affects them.
