Does anyone have a guaranteed mouse trap bait/food? I’ve got one persistent little bugger that has been here for months… Which just sauntered past in the kitchen in a very relaxed fashion like it owns the place. Using those BigCheese live catch traps, and I’ve tried…ham, peanut butter, the bait it came with, little bits of muesli bar, little bits of chocolate… The dog is useless.
You have to wash and scrub the traps in hot soapy water. Dry thoroughly. Wear gloves when setting them. Use a smidgen of Pb. If mice smell human on them they won’t touch them.
I use kill traps because mice are an introduced pest that causes damage and spreads disease.
I found kraft processed cheese works best
Knead about half a teaspoon until it’s soft then I press it into/around the bait holder. I don’t sit the bait on the bait holder, it’s really stuck. Then I set the trap. I might mix tiny bits of bacon in the cheese.
I cleared out a large outdoor aviary for a neighbour of about 30 mice using this method.
I hate it when they just roam around like it’s their house. In a previous share house we had some that would amble through the lounge when we were watching telly. Maybe try bacon rind? Less likely to break apart when nibbled

Borrow a cat
Would be chaos with my doggo
puts cat ears on dog and has him watch an instructional video
My dog is a bigger threat to a mouse than either of my 3 cats!

Huh…ok. thanks I’ll give that a go
It’s a tried and true method. Good luck.

I am currently bound by a pinky swear with my daughter that I will not kill the mouse…
Mouse went to the farm.
Hey, my pet guinea pig went to a farm when I was a kid…hang on a minute 😳
Oh he’s at the farm still. He has a little wheelchair that the other Guinea pigs push around, and they save the best grass for him too.
This is a plug for my work but if it’s a real problem you can look up the Goodnature mouse trap. They’re meant to work pretty well.
I caught two last night with amazon traps loaded with peanut butter. This was the first time I had set the traps.
