Binged the summer that hikaru died. Really liking the eerie vibe and mystery.

So any recommendations that are like this are welcome!

Honestly there’s not a whole lot that’s like it out there. I really like Summer Time Rendering, and the two shows have a lot in common, but they also have plenty of differences. Summer Time Rendering is a bit less eerie & mystery and is more action-oriented for example.

Thx for the recommendation, will check it out. My taste is just very vanilla front page top 10 and shounens. So something like this once in a while is great.

On a whim, I watched the first episode of The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity last week, and it just sucked me in. I ended up binging the ten current episodes over two evenings and loved everything about it.

So then it was episode 11 of that and episode 11 of Milky Subway, both of which were excellent in their own ways.

Aside from that, I’ve been rewatching Scrapped Princess, and being reminded of what a great series it is.

I have personally been some combination of sick, traveling, and busy the past couple weeks, so I haven’t been very active in these threads. I have fallen way behind most things this season. The only thing I have managed to keep up with has been City the Animation, and I have absolutely loved every second of it. I am hoping to try to catch up on a couple shows this week, but I am still struggling with a lingering illness, so time will tell.

Yep! Both the same mangaka and the same animation studio as Nichijou. If anything, the animation is somehow even better.

I’ve finished Mushishi recently and it’s one of my all-time favorites now. It’s also the first anime with each episode having its own story that I rated as 10/10 without any doubt, because it consistently succeeded achieving depth and sophistication without relying on longform plot. It’s one of a kind, I can’t really think of any other anime like this.

This is one of my favorite anime of all time. I haven’t really been able to find anything that can capture the same feeling. There are two that I have found to be the closest.

      1. Kino’s Journey - another anthology series following the titular Kino as they ride from country to country in some kind of eerie version of our world that has devolved into a collection of city-states rather than nations. There are two adaptations, adapting a different subset of the novels. I suggest the second one for new watchers and then the first if you want more.
      2. Natsume’s Book of Friends - follows a boy, Natsume, that can see yokai that others can’t. He inherits some stuff from his grandmother and learns that she could interact with yokai as well. He goes around doing yokai of the week things to learn more about her. Overall, this one is a lot warmer and feel-good of a show.

I picked up - and caught up to the latest episode of - Milky☆Subway: The Galactic Limited Express seeing as it is ending soon.

At just 3 minutes long per episode, it was an easy binge.

It’s been a fun watch, but it feels like it is going to end with a cliffhanger, and would need more seasons to cover the rest of the story.
