Newsom is a full-blown hateful bigoted rightist. He’s just a little more careful about keeping his mask on. Bernie condemns hate, inequity, and inequality and puts himself on the line when he needs to. Is he perfect? No, but he’s genuine. Both have shown their true colors to anyone casually watching.

So no, Newsom — the time-traveling neoliberal Republican movie villain from 1983 — does not get a pass and Bernie does.
