While I applaud the dedication to pedantry on display here in response to my comment, I did not say that only guilty people go to jail. I asked broadly, who is “falsely put in jail” because it’s a strange phrasing, an unusual framing that ought to be questioned by a listener.
I would expect a normal, innocent person to say something like “I was arrested under false pretenses” or “I was wrongfully imprisoned.” Epstein’s alleged phrasing is, IMO, highly suspect. Which feeds into the following point that it is also suspect for anyone to feel the need to donate money after such “false” jailing.
It’s a weird story told by a weirdo about another weirdo.
