hey, read the fucking article!
this sports rival was an example analagy given. The real reason was because she didn’t fit in with the swearing and going to the pub vibe the workplace enviroment had
I wonder if the Russian national part was tricky, saying you can discriminate based on fit feels like it could tip toe into discriminating based on whether or not you’re a non immigrant.
Kalina, who said she was a Russian national, argued that she was discriminated against because she was restrained and did not swear and did not like going to the pub – habits she saw as typically British.
i knew a couple Russian born women in the IT world of Washington State in the 1990s. One was very much like the woman described here. She ultimately changed careers because she couldn’t vibe with the work culture and her appearance caused unexpected attention. No doubt she was amazing to look at and sweet but very reserved. The other lady was also beautiful and knew it could be a distraction so she just made sure she was in charge so it wouldn’t become an issue. That meant changing to fit the work environment. She became very outgoing and dedicated to being a top performer so she could move up and ensure she would get respect for her work and also use her appeal to get the extra advantage.
It does boil down to fitting in and willingness to change. If you can’t be in the team spirit you can’t join the team.
I get your point, and I’m not sure that’s any better.
Idk about pub vibes. But work culture fit is always a factor when hiring. If the person hiring you doesn’t like your vibe, you ain’t getting the job. Sometimes that extends to the whole team and your 3 month probationary period will heavily depend on you fitting with other workers.
Interesting. What about supporting competing fictional skybeings?
Why come logic in corporate dictatorship? Don’t doing that!
You don’t think this is already a factor? Lmao
Rayquaza my lord and savior…
Imagine this, very good grades, strong portfolio and work experience, just to be at the mercy of some random person who rejects you for highly arbitrary reasons like favouring another sports team.
Then you get a default rejection mail, saying they have very carefully considered your application and wish you good luck in your future endeavours.Fuck this system.
Didn’t read the article? The football team was hypothetical. I don’t give two shits about your background if it’s clear you’re not going to get along with the team.
Yeah sure, if someone does not fit in with the team and it’s a rather social job, fair enough.
But using something arbitrary like favouring some sports team, even though this served as an example, this doesn’t seem to be either a significant nor sufficient decision basis.
… because it’s a team of dipshits?
So fire the dipshits instead.
Do you watch football?
Yes.

More ways to divide us into smaller and smaller groups. “United we stand, divided we fall”
By watching that crap, you’re segregating yourself into a tiny group. Where it’s expected that every tiny group hates every other tiny group.
You ever see both teams joining forces to score goals?
No, you fucking potato!
