Well, you’re doing the thing where you’re confusing fundamentalist Christianity with the entire religion.
Let’s start with Jesus’s teachings and go from there.
Now, obviously, no one upholds his teachings perfectly not even his own disciples. That’s not the standard. But I do think a fair standard is that you not directly base your faith around hate and violence. Not if you want me to regard you as a sincere Christian. In the same way that just because you say you’re vegan doesn’t make you one if you eat steak.
Sorry dude, if you believe Jesus is God then you’re a Christian. Everything else is denominations and arguments about true scotsmen. You don’t get to tell me I’m not one and I don’t get to tell you you’re not one. If someone doesn’t eat meat they are vegetarian, even if all they eat is processed junk. I can say they are a bad vegetarian, but so long as they don’t eat meat I can’t say they aren’t one at all.
Christianity is a pile of contradictions. If that’s the bar no one’s a Christian. Turns out if you choose to believe something based on faith despite all evidence you’re gonna find yourself with some weird company. If that makes you uncomfortable then you might just be on the path to joining reality.

Well, my example was someone who claims to be a vegetarian and eats steak.
And I do get to infer someone’s sincerity based on whether they contradict themselves to that degree.
