There was so much ingenuity, skill, and creativity that goeswent into making something completely new and original sounding from various samples of songs all done manually on analog hardware.
The one that always blows my mind the most is Face to Face. 20 different samples, all morphed into an entirely different song. I cannot even comprehend how someone would go about thinking this up and creating it with today’s technology, let alone in the 90s.
And of course there’s the infamous story of Daft Punk pulling the aux cable halfway out of their instruments and playing with the feedback as part of the music. There are certain musicians who’d be ahead of their time in any time.
