minus-square_stranger_@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·19 hours agoMATE is a fork of gnome 2, made by people who did not like the paradigm gnome3 was heading towards. So, much like Ash’s pickachu which never evolves to Raichu, Mate remains “old”.
MATE is to GNOME as Ash’s Pickachu is to Raichu.
