Are you sure you don’t drive a crossover or a MPV? 1.4 liters sounds awfully small for a motor for a SUV. Usually SUVs in Europe have upwards of 1.8 liter engines.
Yes, it has a 1400 (a little less) gasoline engine, but it is an hybrid. And it is classified as SUV by the brand, not me.
Also when you consider what the US wants to import, we are talking about vehicles bigger than six meters in length and two meters in width.

One thing is to say what cars US want to sell, another thing is if people buy these cars. And my bet is that such cars would not sell (if not in small numbers), too much expensive to run here where gasoline is much more expensive, regardless the dimensions.
