Japan city drafts ordinance to cap smartphone use at 2 hours per day

A central Japan city said Thursday it will seek to pass an ordinance recommending all residents limit smartphone use to two hours a day outside of work and school amid concerns over the impact of excessive technology exposure, though there will be no penalties proposed.

I would like to know how you think about this. Personally, I think it’s a very good ordinance. It’s not enforced, but encouraged. We should correct the situation that Xitter users and Tiktokers are getting brainfucked by spreading conspiracies.

    For those who didn’t read, it’s not an enforced cap. It’s a recommendation. This is essentially just a PSA framed as an ordinance.

      Ok. I was already starting shouting “crazy fascists!”. I’ll postpone the shouting until they start to enforce this recommendation.

      If it were an enforced cap, I’d be wondering who it was that had the shares in a desktop/laptop/“real computer” manufacturer—forbidding smartphones ≠ forbidding screens or Internet access.
