This post is being recycled at the request of @[email protected] to include PieFed users. After perusing through their [PieFed] website, I understand why some users prefer a client.

Thank you to all of you who shared your experiences which helped me out significantly. Because of that, I wanted to keep the comments instead of creating a new post so that others can benefit from it.

As of 24 August 2025, Blorp, Voyager and Mlem are the only ones that support PieFed that I know of.

  • Are you a Lemming? PieFed user? or Both?
  • Which apps have you used? Or currently using? Do you have a favorite? Why?
  • Would you recommend a PWA instead of a client? Why?
  • Any recommendations, tips, experiences you would like to share are appreciated!

*I am a Lemming (almost 2 months) using Arctic to read, Voyager to comment/post and Blorp to search. Why? Because Arctic loads more content, I’m used to Voyager (but open to change) and Blorp’s Search function… just functions! *

I use Voyager because of its similarity to the Apollo reddit client.

I have both Lemmy and piefed accounts but I’m still defaulting to Lemmy mostly out of habit and laziness.

    Voyager supports both.

I’ve been a Lemmy user for a while and just created a Piefed account so I just started using Blorp. I like it.

I use piefed and Lemmy (mainly piefed) with Blorp. It has the features I want (eg peertube embeds), supports piefed and is visually nice

Thunder, on android. I’ve tried voyager, and the UI makes me want to vomit. Everyone seems to love it, and it probably works great, but… no, I can’t do it. I tried a couple more but I’m not sure if they are cross-platform. Regardless, thunder 100%.

I came from reddit using RedReader for a decade+, and since RR is supposed to have Lemmy support eventually but still doesn’t, I needed a stand-in that was similar. Thunder was the first one I tried and it’s very close, so I tried a couple others but ended up keeping thunder. Until RR implements lemmy support, I’m happy enough. Using it for a couple years now.

Only real complaint is that I can’t reply/compose ‘direct messages’. It’ll do comments and posts fine, and you can read messages from users, but it won’t let you answer. Gotta open the browser and do it that way. It used to be pretty buggy, crashing and hanging, but that was a while ago. Pleasant experience for a bit now.

PWA for me just isn’t the same, significant downgrade. I browse lemmy basically exclusively on mobile, I want the full experience that an application provides.

Have you tried Blorp’s latest update to search? I slowly rolled it out over the past week. You will notice the biggest difference on larger screens.

Blorp is far from done. Feedback and feature requests are welcome!
