    The people of ancient Egypt do, in fact, still live in Egypt. They’re the same people, they just don’t really speak Coptic anymore.

      Then I got sold false facts lol. I was in Hurghada last year and talking to a cab driver there. He said that there was at some point a great muslim invasion and they drove out most of the original peoples of Egypt, but then again he was a taxi driver, not a historian.

        Mostly it’s that Egypt was culturally assimilated by Arabic-speaking invaders in the 7th century AD. The people, genetically speaking, are largely the same, as the Arabic-speaking invaders, while insistent on the supremacy of the Arabic language, generally intermarried freely with the Egyptians, and were not numerous enough to ‘push out’ (nor particularly interested in such a thing) the natives.
