The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.
The rest of the world is never going to hear the end of this one.
You mean the good news or the pun?
The news. Now people will say “Helsinki had an entire year of no traffic deaths why arent you more like Helsinki”
Actually, they’ll probably go the other way:
"Helsinki had no traffic deaths but at what cost?
the cost of being the capital city of one of the happiest nations on the planet
“And we could save millions of dollars* by raising the speed limit!”
*Costs of deaths not included
thats me when I hear this news
Agreed. Hopefully they can repeat this success in the following years to come to show that it wasn’t a fluke. My motivation for posting it here was to provoke discussion about the feasibility of doing something like this somewhere in Australia.
Impossible, I’ve seen Aussie Dash Cams.
Yes well maybe we can set the bar a bit lower by starting with a town of say… 500 people.
Edit: Who am I kidding. We probably need to start with a ghost town.
I think we have shot in cities if we separate cyclists. In rural areas we have no hope. Lots of bored kids getting drunk and driving too fast. You can’t legislate away stupid.
