Why this is happening: right-wing extremist propaganda on popular proprietary social media, and random people believing it and radicalizing themselves. Of course it’s going to spawn more radicalized right-wing extremists, everywhere the propaganda machine turns its head towards (they managed to ruin USA, now they’re trying to ruin Europe). Normal people will become more radicalized in the process. It’s like a global cult and its propaganda distribution mechanism is the internet. Not everyone will have enough education or media literacy to resist this. China and Russia are the big benefactors of a divided and in-fighting West.

That solves a lot of problems, but it doesn’t solve this problem.

Class warfare! Waves of far-right extremeism arise from the misdirected discontentment of the working class. This discontentment arises from the internal class contradictions that capitalism produces leading to worsening living conditions from the constant offensive from the capitalists to lower wages and increase the amount of labour bought for by said wage. By blaming minorities the capitalist class creates an us vs them that redirects the rightfull discontent away from the capitalists that cause these worsening conditions to minorities as a scapegoat.

fascism is just one of the heads on the hydra of capitalism. So cutting it off will only lead to its reemergence after some years.

This does not have to be the end of the world. There is hope and being a doomer is cringe reddit bavior. So organize! Join an antifascist group in your area if you can. Join a union for your workplace (if you have not already) and better yet join a communist group / party / youth org.

If you are hestitant to do any of these things because socialism seems scary, read “the principles of communism” by friedrich engels or any other marxist book and you will find that communism is grounded on scientific analysis of our society and its opposing forces.

Mabye this comment is useless and im underestimating the amount that online discourse can change peoples views or agitate them to action but in so tired of the doomerism and semi anti capitalist “rich people greedy” that plagues lemmy so I wrote this screaming into the void for my own sake but I still hold hope someone actually reads this.

        The solution: Socialism.

Be more specific than “join a group” because these groups are literally doing nothing. “Organize” is what you do when you have time to spare.

Hi thank you for responding to my comment. You are correct in pointing out that free time is a privilege that not everyone has. So I apogize if I recommend you to do something that seems impossible. I would like to state however that the reason most working people have so little free time is because the working class is so disorganized and unmotivated. If you are not apart of a union you cant really do anything on your own when your boss forces you to take (unpaid) overtime. I knew a person who said they basicly had no free time so they listened to marxist audio book while working as a delivery driver.

Its up to you to decide whether you have the time or are able to do something creative in order to educate yourself. I would not lay any judgement on you if you simply dont have the time. Just know that it is within your own interest to try to educate yourself and organize with others.

I would disagree with your statement that these groups do nothing. Antifascist groups hold counter demonstrations when fascists try to openly show their faces and they spread propaganda that goes counter to the capitalist media narrative. Unions help in the improvement of workers lives by fighting for better working conditions and wages, less hours ect. And communist orgs have been rallying people to go to protests and show that there is an alternative view on the situation. As someone living in europe, pro palestinian protests have had a massive impact on cutting through the lies and propaganda being produced by the capitalist media machine concerning the occupation of palestine. Further more when a fascist dictator comes to power history has shown that communists are first to pick up armed struggle and organize into militias to fight for the liberation of working people. A modern example of this is in india were currently there are armed communists militias fighting against the facist government.

I ofcourse dont expect you to join a militia but the reason the capitalist class is able to exploit and supress the working class while being greatly outnumbered is because they are more organized. So joining a group and getting educated is important if you want to understand why things are happening in the world and how to fight back. Keeping you discouraged and depressed works perfectly in the ruling class interests so the media bombards you with a constant barrage of bad news. There is however hope and people are fighting and making a difference even if things apear to remain the same.
